What is Celiac Disease?

Celiac Disease is caused by an immune reaction to Gluten, found in Wheat, barley, oats, rye, triticale.
Gluten triggers an autoimmune reaction, in which the body produces antibodies that attack their own tissue. This reaction cause inflammations and damage to the lining of the small intestines.



Symptoms

Gastrointestinial Symptoms
Chronic Diarreha, Recurring Abdominal Bloating, Abdominal Cramps, Gas, Nausea/Guidiness, Pale, Foul Smelling/Fatty Stool

General Symptoms
Weight Loss, Delayed Growth, Fatigue/Tiredness, Unexplained Anemia

Bone Deformities
Bone or Joint Pains, Rickets (Children), Osteomalaica, Osteoporosis

Neurological and Muscular Changes
Tingness/Numbness in the legs, Muscle Cramps

Other Symptoms
Seizures, Headaches, Behavioral Changes, Depression, Missed Menstrual Periods, Infertility/Recurrent Miscarriage, Failure to Thrive in infants, Short Stature, Tooth Discolorization, loss of enamel, Skin problems, Sarcidosis

About the Celiac Society of Delhi
The Celiac Society Was Formed in May, 2006. Provides a forum of create awareness about the disease, early diagnostic, and management.
